Privacy Statement Stichting Ukrainian Victims of War
The Stichting Ukrainian Victims of War (the “Foundation” or “we”) has as its objective to represent and protect the interests and human rights of the residents of Ukraine in relation to the war illegally initiated by the Russian Federation Ukrainian soil. We have a website with information about our cause and contact details: https://uawarvictims.org. Through the website www.change.org we offer a petition (the “Petition”) which we use to demonstrate the support for our cause. Current petitions:
The Foundation values privacy and is committed to the protection of the personal data of its supporters and website visitors. This privacy statement describes how the Foundation processes your personal data and which rights you have. The Foundation is the controller with regard to the processing of your personal data described in this privacy statement. All personal data is collected, processed and secured in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
This privacy statement concerns:
your visit to our website;
your communication with the Stichting Ukrainian Victims of War;
the information we receive from Change.org when you sign our petition on www.change.org, to demonstrate support; and
the newsletter you may receive;
communication through social media and other channels;
promotion (advertising) through online media.

Whose personal data we process
We process personal data primarily from:

persons who wish to be kept informed or with whom we otherwise have contact; and
persons who have signed the Petition.
How we Process your personal data
2.1 Website visitors
When you visit our website, https://uawarvictims.org, we need certain information in order for the website to function properly and for security purposes. This includes:

and information about the device you use to visit the website, such as the operating system and web browser used.
The legal basis for this is the performance of the contract with you (to correctly display our website) and our legitimate interests (security purposes).Currently, we use cookies to provide necessary site functionality and to improve your experience. By using this website, you agree to our use of cookies.
2.2 Persons with whom we communicate
If you choose to get in touch with us, for instance via the contact form on our website or e-mail, we process the following information so that we can communicate with you:
your name (last name/family name is optional);
your e-mail address; and
the content of your communication.
The legal basis for this is the performance of the contract with you, to answer your messages.
2.3 Persons who have signed the Petition
When you sign the Petition on www.change.org, Change.org will process your personal data as described in their privacy policy, available at: https://www.change.org/policies/privacy. Change.org will share the following information with us:
your first and last name;
your e-mail address via possibility to communicate with you through change.org functionality;
your city and/or postcode, derived from your IP-address or manually entered by you;
your country and
the date on which you signed the Petition.
This information is provided to us even if you select the option not to display your name and comment publicly on the Change.org website. We process this personal data to demonstrate your support for our cause, for instance:
to administer how many people support our cause, if required sorted by country of residence based on the location data;
in the case of a legal action, to demonstrate that our case is sufficiently supported; and
to protect the legitimacy of the Petition, by verifying the authenticity of the signee.
The legal basis for this is the performance of the contract with you.
2.4 Persons who wish to receive our newsletter
If you sign the Petition on Change.org you may choose to receive our newsletter. For this purpose, we process the following information:
the first and last name you provided when signing the Petition on Change.org; and
the e-mail address you provided when signing the Petition on Change.org.
You may also sign for a newsletter through our website.The legal basis for this is the consent you give by signing up for our newsletter.
How long we store your data
The Foundation does not retain personal data for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which your data is collected, for instance:
the personal data we process in relation to your visit of our website is not stored after you close your session;
the personal data related to your signing of the petition is stored until the end of our litigation or other legal action; and
the personal data related to the newsletter is stored until you indicate you no longer wish to receive the newsletter. If possible, personal data will be pseudonymized.
(Categories of) recipients of your personal data
The Foundation may use third party services, such as a hosting provider, to process your personal data in accordance with this privacy statement.
In cases other than those referred to above, the Foundation will only share your personal data with third parties if you have given your consent to do so, in order to comply with (legal) obligations or if this is necessary for the legitimate interests pursued by the Foundation or third parties.
Transfer of personal data to third countries
Your personal data will only be stored or processed outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) by us or by third parties if this is in accordance with the applicable regulations for the transfer of personal data to countries outside the EEA. This means that we will only transfer your personal data to countries outside the EEA if the European Commission has decided that the third country in question guarantees an adequate level of protection, or if other appropriate safeguards are provided, such as an adequacy decision or the use of unmodified standard contractual clauses that have been approved by the European Commission. Your rights
The GDPR provides you with the right of access, rectification and erasure of your personal data. In addition, you can ask us for restriction of the processing, to transfer the personal data and you have the right to object to the processing.
